PUBLIC PULSE · SOUTH CAROLINA

About Public Pulse

Independent civic reporting built to make local government easier to follow — without turning it into team sports.

What Public Pulse is

Public Pulse – South Carolina is an independent civic-reporting project focused on making local and state government understandable to the people affected by its decisions.

Our starting coverage area is Greenville and Anderson counties, with state reporting when a state action has a clear local consequence. The goal is depth before breadth: know the meetings, records, recurring issues and institutions well enough to explain them accurately.

What we cover

Budgets, taxes, transportation, infrastructure, housing, development, public services, public meetings and government accountability are core coverage areas.

What we are not

Public Pulse is not affiliated with a government agency, political party, campaign or candidate. Reporting is not designed to tell readers which political conclusion to reach. It is designed to show what happened, what became official, what remains unresolved and what the practical consequences may be.

The reporting framework

What happened.

The meeting, motion, vote, discussion or public action.

What passed.

What became official — and what did not.

Why it matters.

The practical consequence for residents, public money, services, infrastructure or future decisions.
